MINIMIZE YOUR “BAGGAGE.”
Excess baggage is distracting and cumbersome. It also gives the impression that you have other things on your mind – that the job interview is not top priority.



FIRST IMPRESSION
 

1.  The screening process begins with your first contact -
- A phone call
- A resume
- A face-to-face meeting

2.  Friendly, polite and positive responses will keep the door open to proceed further.

3.  Employers are looking for a candidate whose personality and job skills match a company’s profile, environment and production needs.

4.  Are you qualified? Able? Capable? Suitable? Available?

5.  The interview provides you with an opportunity to sell yourself.

6.  Be calm, confident and positive

7.  Be sharp and alert

8.  Focus on the services and/or skills that you have to offer

9.  Concentrate on each question as it is presented. Should the answer be “yes” or “no” or are you being asked for a detailed answer?

10.  Speak effectively, using good grammar and vocabulary.

11.  Sell your enthusiasm by demonstrating your interest in learning.

12.  Be prepared ahead of time with questions in mind about the ..   ..  business/company.

13.  Know beforehand what your personal schedule and salary requirements are and how flexible you may be willing to be.

14.  Wrapping Up
- In any case, be friendly and polite.
- Arrange for further contact if there is to be any.
- Shake hands firmly.
- Say “goodbye” and leave as cheerfully as you arrived.
